Eclectic Warm-toned Living Space
Interior Design, North West London
Our client in Notting Hill, West London, is lucky enough to own one of those big, wide Edwardian houses … but it was becoming overcrowded. Desperate for some “me” space, he briefed us to work with a structural engineer and specialist construction company to create more space by moving upwards into the loft.
We visualised the space as a private sanctuary, designing the living / relaxing / sleeping / chilling area with New York loft-living features such as eaves windows and an exposed brick wall.
Our secondary inspiration came from our client, an inveterate traveller, who told us that one of his favourite countries was Morocco. We looked at ways that North African cultures approach their non-working hours, and thus the idea of a low level, cushion-strewn reading nook was born. We then turned our attention to the kitchen, which would be used by the whole household as a cooking, dining and relaxing space. We kept things clean and practical with a functional white kitchen, brought to life by a zingy orange splashback.
Bringing out the best in it and us
“Before this project we were thinking of selling up. Now we wouldn’t dream of moving….We feel she has captured the essence of what we wanted the house to be while bringing out the best in it and us.”
