Quirky High-rise Pad
Interior Design, North Kensington
A penthouse in a Grade II listed iconic brutalist building was looking tired and dated. For this vibrant young client, we created a quirky space with a modern colour palette, mixing contemporary pieces with her vintage finds.
The North Kensington area of West London is an interesting mixture of old and new, gentrified and edgy. Property is soaring in value so the investment and heritage aspects of the home needed to be considered, alongside the specific tastes and interests of the client.
In sympathy with the building’s architecture, we’ve created a deconstructed feel, whilst maintaining the apartment’s original 1960’s identity and features – often a mandatory when working with listed status buildings.
The bold colours, patterns and mix of textures were inspired by our client’s eclectic wardrobe gathered from the vintage shops of Portobello Road, and plenty of consideration was given to comfort as well as style!
Sympathetic to the spirit of the building
“Cathy was very sympathetic to the spirit of the building and came up with design solutions I would never have thought of on my own. I love the flat now!”
